Mo Farah was born in the capital of Somalia, however Mo Farah was not his name. He was born as Hussein Abdi Kahin. When Mo Farah was only 9 years old he was trafficked into the UK from Djibouti and was given a false name and a fake passport and that is how the story of Mo Farah began.
Mo Farah started running in 1994 when he joined the Hounslow Athletics Club. Immediately he had excelled and by the age of 13 he was competing in the English Schools Championship in which he finished 9th, but by the following year he had won the first of his 5 English Schools Championship titles.
Mo Farah made his Olympic debut in 2008, although this was a very underwhelming performance in which he did not even make the final. Four years later in 2012 this was his breakout olympics in London on his home ground, in this olympics he won gold in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter events. In the 2016 Beijing Olympics Sir Mo Farah defended both titles, becoming the first British athlete to do so.
Mo Farah is now retired and throughout his career he was renowned as one of the greatest long distant athletes of all time. Mo Farah won 4 Olympic gold medals, 6 IAAF World Championship gold medals, and a gold medal in the 3,000m Indoor championships. Mo Farah is currently enjoying his retirement with no ambitions to get back into the athletics industry.
